This formula uses encapsulated retinol, a liposome-based delivery system that helps support a more comfortable retinol experience than traditional free retinol formulas while pairing the active with nourishing oils.
Olive squalane, certified organic jojoba oil, and organic vitamin E help cushion the skin with lightweight nourishment, leaving it feeling soft, comfortable, and never heavy.

0.2% Encapsulated Retinol
A well-known cosmetic retinoid that helps improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, uneven texture, dullness, and visible signs of aging over time. This formula uses a liposome-based delivery system to support a more comfortable retinol experience than traditional free retinol formulas.
Olive Squalane
A lightweight, skin-loving oil that helps soften and condition the skin without a heavy or greasy feel.
Certified Organic Jojoba Oil
A nourishing organic botanical oil that helps support a smooth, comfortable skin feel while adding lightweight moisture.
Organic Vitamin E
An antioxidant that helps support the oil phase of the formula while leaving skin feeling soft and conditioned.
Use at night only.
After cleansing, apply 1 pump to dry skin after water-based serums and before moisturizer.
Start 2 to 3 nights per week, then increase as tolerated. If your skin is sensitive, apply moisturizer first, then retinol serum, or use moisturizer again after applying.
Avoid the eye area, lips, and corners of the nose.
Do not use on the same night as exfoliating acids, scrubs, peels, or other retinoid products.
Use sunscreen every morning while using retinol.
With consistent nighttime use, skin may begin to look smoother, softer, and more refined over time.
Retinol works gradually, so visible improvement in the look of fine lines, wrinkles, uneven texture, and dullness may take several weeks of consistent use.

When I started researching retinol, I realized how confusing Vitamin A skincare can be.
Some products simply say “retinol” or “retinoid complex,” but do not clearly state the exact molecule or strength being used. Others use gentler Vitamin A derivatives that must go through additional conversion steps in the skin before becoming the active form the skin can use.
For Soulful Sage, I wanted to create a formula that was transparent, meaningful, and still skin-comfort focused.
Renew + Smooth is made with 0.2% encapsulated retinol, so you know the molecule being used and the strength in the finished product. The retinol is delivered in a liposome-based system and blended into a lightweight oil-serum with olive squalane, certified organic jojoba oil, and organic vitamin E to help support a smoother-looking, softer-feeling, more renewed complexion over time.
I chose this approach because I wanted a nighttime retinol serum that felt effective, but not harsh. A formula that supports the look of fine lines, wrinkles, uneven texture, and dullness while still feeling nourishing, intentional, and aligned with the Soulful Sage ritual.
